ReplyDeleteSome documentaries can be shown as a reference to the contextual knowledge. Learner’s can be asked to further bring in factual information related to a particular topic.

ReplyDeleteDocumentries like Bharat ek Khoj to be shown to the students to clear thier concept. Monuments pictures can be shown as well.
ReplyDeleteHistorical movies can be shown, role play or enactment can be done related to the topic, documentaries can be shown, projects / power point presentations can be made.

ReplyDeleteAlong with textbook,flashcards, cutting from newspaper and magazine, visit to place like Ajanta caves ,etc.

Make groups, divide the period into sub topics and ask each group to collect information and apresent their topics, comparision with a comtemporary civilisation and one at the same time in some other part of the world.
Visit to a museum, asking them to make a seal of their own, jewelry, showing old coins.

ReplyDeleteUse both primary and secondary resources as well to explain students. Can ask students to browse net and visit National Archive to get the information and messages of the particular period , newspapers, coins, stamps , videos, reference books and also a tour to the national museum and forts related to the topic.
ReplyDeleteEnactment with a story then either physical visit to the site if possible or virtual mode.... refer to movies and books related to that period........

ReplyDeleteTrying to explore 360 pedigree you tube videos of historical places, have collected, books and other pictorial material from National museum Delhi few years back, news paper cuttings of the time of National Movement is very interesting Idea not yet explored, would like to explore the national archives for that, apart from it Role Play, Interviews, puppetry, Comic Strips are some other fun Activities a have used to get my students connected with the Subject.

ReplyDeleteI would plan an activity(treasure hunt),as a group task,to find out the hidden treasure in which various sources of information have been kept in a treasure chest or pot that would enable students to identify and classify them as secondary and primary sources(the treasure may contain terracota images,pictures of Greatbath,beads, articles about harappan culture and religion , and other arte facts duplicated) as a primary source a field visit or virtual tour of the site can be organized.
